I don't intentionally stay away this long. I keep thinking I'll do better and time passes way to fast.
A lot of you read my Mom's blog and know about my Dad breaking his hip. Thank you for the prayers and encouragement for her. He is doing fine except for driving Mom crazy with his stubbornness...ha. She doesn't want him to end up back in the hospital.
We have been a little busy around here. Hubby wanted to add some plants to the front flower beds so we spent a couple of weekends on that. He's bought a few trees to plant out back, a red bud, a Japanese maple (the deer liked the new leaves on that one, we had to move it closer to the house), an ornamental plum, some type of oak, some type of pear (not Bradford) and a cedar. We bought a couple of tomato plants and two big blueberry bushes.
He tried to play golf a couple of weekends but kept getting rained out. But he made up for it this weekend and played both Saturday and Sunday...he's been battling a cold and ended up staying home from work yesterday. He worked today, said he wasn't coughing as much but sneezing more. Hopefully he'll get cleared up soon...couple of years ago he ended up with bronchitis.
We are supposed to be cooler tomorrow, 50's for highs and 31 for low. I'll have to bring my tomatoes in.
Take care,
Sheila
good to see you and your blog is so pretty and beachy.
ReplyDeleteI envy the fact that you're able to successfully plant trees in your yard. Everything that I plant here in West TX quickly dies from the heat. The only small tree that survived is a purple ash. I also have eight mature pecan trees.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, love your new look!
ReplyDeleteYes, so glad your dad has done so well, Mom too, for the most part..lol.
I have been thinking that I would like to plant an apricot tree. I have two fig trees and pecans. With apricots added, perhaps I will never have to cook again...lol.
Take care, DD
Jack e-mailed me that my dance partner was
ReplyDeletehaving a Birthday tomorrow. Well how nice
we made it one more year. We could start
dancing around 7:30 to ward off the cold.
Just use your old dancing shoes so we will
be reconized. I didn't think we would be
dancing this early in the year.
I wish you a wonderful HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
Shirl
Hey there southern lady, good to see your alert. Yeah we of course are concerned about your dad and just about as much for your mom.
ReplyDeleteThat is one working lady, but illness and accidents take a toll on the hurt and the care giver.
Wow working the yard in the false spring, we came home from Florida a couple weeks early it seems. I put our two tomato plants in the shed. Ha!
Hope the hubby gets better and you do not catch it. Oh yes, Happy Birthday coming up.
Love from down here in Belmont!!!!
Happy Birthday, whenever it is. Sorry to hear about your Dad's hip. Hope he's on the mend. Hope what you planted did not freeze. We had frost here and had to take everything inside. You hubby will probably be better soon. That bronchitis is going around. Take care.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been really busy with yard work. I hope you're Dad is still doing well and your Mom is getting a little rest.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
Debbie
Whoops! That should have "your" not you're. I think Jack is rubbing off on me, lol.
ReplyDeleteFinally made it to some blogs. Your mom has her hands full. I am so glad he is home but he sounds like he is a handful. Hope your deer don't like tomatoes.. The squirrels love mine so can't deal with them this year. Just getting around without a cane yesterday but really sore today. Take care Sheila.
