Hello again!

As most of you know we have been moving into our new home. We hired help the weekend of Aug 6th, to move all the stuff in storage and the big stuff from the apartment. Then we spent the rest of the month of August moving over the rest of the stuff and getting the apartment ready to turn over the keys. Now we are trying to get the house in order and everything (or most everything) out of boxes.

The cable was supposed to be set up at the house on August 10th. I waited there for several hours then gave them a call. They weren't coming until the 16th, oh no that is not right. They did turn off the cable at the apartment on the 10th. After a few phone calls, and finally someone admitting they don't cut off cable at one place until it is set up at the other, they came out the next day (11th) and turned it on. The phone was transferred on the 16th, and just like in Mobile they ran it to a box on the other side of the empty lot beside us because our box wasn't working. I have been calling them to get our box fixed because when they started building on the lot beside us in Mobile they cut our line several times. They are supposed to fix it by today.......nothing so far and they have started clearing the lot next door...oh well guess we will see what happens.

On a happier note...ha, we have cooked steaks twice on hubby's new charcoal grill. He likes to throw on some mesquite wood chunks. So good after over a year not having one grilled at home. (couldn't have grills at the apartment).

After checking out several companies, we had our security system installed on Sept. 6th and we started our quarterly pest service this week. Ordered new popcorn for my popcorn machine and fixed some Sunday night, oh how I missed it....ha.

I was sick with fever for the first time in a long time on Labor day, but I have recovered.

Then my laptop started acting up. It finally got where it wouldn't come on, so after trying everything I knew I had to re-install windows...oh what fun, so the past three days I have been re-installing drivers and programs I needed and of course all the windows updates. That's what takes the longest all those updates. I will install my other programs as I need them. I just hope it isn't my hard drive getting ready to crap out. I have an old desktop I think I am going to set up...just in case...

And last but definitely not least, Jarin turned 21 on Sept. 14th. I fixed chocolate chip cookies that night and hubby grilled the steaks. We are going out to eat at the Mexican restaurant tonight  and I will pick up her birthday cake later today. We stretch out the celebration...ha.

Oh and we are a lot cooler today, about 57 now. I had the windows open until I started to get cold...ha.
Almost time to start snow dancing Shirl...
Shirl and I have been trying to rain dance Paula some rain in Texas but no luck so far  :(

Sorry it has been so long since a post,
Take care,
Sheila

  1. Glad you got all moved in. I hate that the phone and cable companies can never get there stuff together, it's the same on my end.
Ahhh....I remember reloading windows. Don't miss that at all. I went Ubuntu Linux at the end of last year and haven't had any problems since then.

  2. What a joy to see ‘Southern Comfort’ on the alerts. Glad you are getting settled. Yeah, we know you are familiar with this moving stuff, but I think every move there is always something ‘a little more interesting’ you might say.
The grilling sounds great along with the extended birthday celebration. Life is good that way. I am having trouble getting ‘The Boyettes’ up though. I am glad mom is posting though. Love that lady.

Take care, it is Hot here in Florida, but it may cool some tomorrow. Heading out on our cruise this Sunday afternoon. Looking for ward to that.

    Love from central Florida.

  6. Hi Sheila,
You asked if I have ever heard Ben "call my name". No, that has not happened to me. However, a woman in my grief support group told us the other day that she had just started to fall asleep and she heard her husband call her name. It woke her up. She told us she sat up and said "I'm here" and she heard him call her name again. So she got out of bed and wandered through the house, but did not hear him again. I also remember years ago that my mom told me she used to hear her mother calling her name after my grandmother had passed and my mom also told me that she saw my dad standing in her bedroom door smiling at her after he passed. My mom passed about 13 years ago. I have only had one dream about Ben and that was about a week after he passed, other than that, I have not seen or heard him.
    Hugs,
    Kay

  7. How good it is to see a post from you, and a wonderful newsy one. I love your autumn theme. I got a cold yesterday, and this morning slept in my chair all morning. It was 52 a while ago when Joe called. It is supposed to be 80 by Monday, It is nice to see you back. I just had to start from scratch, "factory condition" and replace all so I sympathize, with all your computer problems. I am so glad to see you!!!!

  9. Glad you are back I have been dancing for rain
by myself. Now you can help trying to get
Paula some water. Lucy does not want us to
dance for snow in her area. We will have
    to remember that.

Moving is hard work, been there. Now
sit back and relax for awhile.
