Over the river and through the woods...

Hello,

We made it to my Mom's. Hubby isn't here yet, he has to work Monday and part of Tuesday. There was a house full when we got here. My parents, uncle and aunt, brother, his wife and daughter and his older daughter and her family.

We were sitting outside and we noticed some vultures off in the distance. A lot of vultures. So my brother, with his red shirt on, lays out on the grass with his arms and legs outstretched. In no time vultures are circling, one even swooped pretty low. It was pretty funny. But not to worry, he is safe and sound. We didn't let them carry him off.

For those who don't know, I have four brothers. Three older and one younger. Two live here in my hometown, the one who was vulture bait lives in Atlanta and the youngest lives in San Antonio. The youngest is coming Christmas Eve.

I will go for now,
Take care,
Sheila

  1. I bet the vultures thought they had
a good meal. Maybe the red shirt
look like road kill. Glad he is OK. It would have been terrible for him to miss a wonderful Christmas event with family. Hope you and the family have a joyous Christmas.

  5. We read the book 'follow the river.' In it an old lady lies down to attract vultures, trying to catch one to eat. A great true story of a woman's stamina. Mary Ingles was twenty-three, married, and pregnant, when Shawnee Indians invaded her peaceful Virginia settlement, killed the men and women, then took her captive. For months, she lived with them, unbroken, until she escaped, and followed a thousand mile trail to freedom--an extraordinary story of a pioneer woman who risked her life to return to her people....
I would never have thought of attracting the buzzards. Glad you kept him safe. ha!
