and my new santa

The sofa table

didn't put out the houses this year.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! We had a great week. Santa was good to everyone. One of the things I received was a new digital camera and hubby got a new golf club. I thought I'd show a few of the pics I took at home before coming to my parents. We also have a small tree in the living room. I'll be heading home tomorrow, 'C' has an orthodontist appointment on Tuesday.

Santa's almost here...

Hope everyone is enjoying the season. I am enjoying time with the family. I went walking on the trails at the lake with my little brother and his fiancee' yesterday. We had a good time. They went down to Destin this morning with his daughter (age 11), she wanted to go see the big Christmas tree they have. His son (age 10) didn't want to go. 'J' and her friend from Canada were going down too, so she could show her the beach.

Hubby is headed up this way, I am meeting him in Andalusia to go to Penney's and Walmart, and probably Wards, another clothing store there.

Just wanted stop in and leave a note,
take care,
Sheila

Happy 60th Anniversary...

Happy 60th Anniversary to my Mom and Dad!

All the siblings and quite a few of the grandchildren were here today. Sorry I haven't posted lately, been busy with getting ready for Christmas and getting ready to come to Mom and Dad's.

I will post some pictures when I get them. I've been trying to keep up with the blogs through google reader.

I hope my pillow picture above helps bring some snow over the holidays...ha. I took it last year, when I first bought it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas season, and I hope you were all good enough for Santa to come see ya...ha. Jack, maybe Sherry will put in a good word for you...!

Shirl, I heard NC got some snow...did you get any? If so, I'm jealous...ha.

Take care,
Sheila

My First Anniversary...yesterday.

As of yesterday December 9th, I have been blogging for a year. I thought it was the 8th but after checking I was wrong...ha. Then I messed around and didn't get a blog entry done yesterday.

Thanks to all that come by and read my blog...and to the friends I have made through reading journals and now blogs.

We are in the low 40's here this morning and the wind makes it feel colder. I dropped 'C' off at school this morning then drove by 'Starbucks' to get a breve' caramel mocha (with real caramel not flavoring)coffee and an oatmeal cookie. Breve' means they use half and half instead of milk. They can't make the mocha as well as my old coffee shop in Washington state but I just have to make do with what I can get...ha. But I guess it's a good thing because I got a coffee everyday in Washington, but here, I only get one every once in a while. They are probably why my cholesterol was so high...ha.

Well I'll go for now,
Take care,
Sheila

Blue dress and Barney...

Hello,

Mom sent me a picture of the dress she still has, from the picture of her and I beside the yellow car. I would have never guessed she still had it...is that a dry cleaner tag I see inside?

This next picture is of a car that was in the parking lot at the Winn-Dixie on the day I went to get the groceries for Thanksgiving. For some reason it made me think of Barney Fife...

Well we didn't get any snow... :( unless it came during the middle of the night and was gone by morning...

I'll leave you with this thought...
Woohoo....Roll Tide...Way to go Bama!!

It's cold outside...

Hi,

'J' and I went to the 'Christmas Carol' movie. I liked it, it was pretty neat in 3-D. I am still waiting for my snow.. :)

I did the snow dance in the parking lot of the movie theater as we walked to the car. My daughter kept saying, 'Mom, we're in a parking lot', 'Mom, people can see you'...ha. I hope my embarrassing my daughter was not in vain... :D

Mom sent some pictures a while back for me to share...

This is me around a month old
with Mom and my three older brothers.
Inkin, Blinkin and Nod
(just kidding)
My 'sitting on a sewing maching picture'...
Mom still has the sewing machine.

On a couch...

Thought Jack would enjoy the ones with cars.

What can I say, are those pants supposed to
be that short...

Hope you enjoyed the pictures...

Christmas time's a'comin'...

Hello Everyone,

I am still here. We had a good Thanksgiving...we were nice and stuffed...ha. We have been getting the Christmas decorations out and putting them up. The girls and I went to the movies the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to see 'The Blind Side', well 'J' and I saw it, 'C' and her friend decided they didn't want to see a 'football' movie and went to see '2012'. We liked it. We are planning on going tonight and see 'A Christmas Carol' in 3-D.

I'll keep this short, I need to get outside and do my snow dance. We have a chance of a wintry mix tonight so I may have a chance of it working...ha.

As you can see, I've been trying to get my blog decorated too...not sure I'm happy with it yet...

Have a great weekend,
Sheila

Pictures meant for Veteran's Day...

Hello Everyone,

I was going to post these pictures on Veteran's Day, but Hubby had taken the pictures of him to work a while back and I had to wait for him to bring them home.

This is my Dad in the Army in the 50's.

These are pics of my Hubby in Vietnam
(that's him on the right...ha)

Thanks again to them for their service!!

We are all well here. 'C' had an Orthodontist appointment on Tuesday, she is close to getting her braces removed.

I think I am ready to start decorating for Christmas, in the house at least. I need to stop watching QVC and their Christmas decorations...ha.

Lucy, I enjoyed talking to you on your birthday. I hope you are getting all that cake eaten and using all your great gifts.

Take care,
Sheila

She came and she went...

Hi,

Just wanted to let everyone know that we came through 'Ida' fine. There was some power outages in the southern part of the county and some roads flooded, but as far as I've heard it wasn't too bad. They were saying it would hit land around midnight but it came in at Dauphin Island around 5:40 am this morning, then back in the water and came back on in Bon Secour about 7:00 am. Hubby was driving to work at 5:40 and he said it wasn't any worse than a regular rain storm.

Thanks for thinking of us and keeping us in your prayers.

Glasses, internet and storms...

Hello All,

Let's see, what happened last week...'C', whose contacts have been bothering her lately, has been wearing her glasses more often. Well Tuesday she got in the car and start feeling around for her glasses. She had put them in her jacket pocket and they weren't there. We hoped her friend might have picked them up... she didn't. I told her to check in the office to see if anyone turned them in...she kept forgetting so I called on Friday morning and they had them...thank goodness. They were stretched out, like someone tried to put them on, but I fixed them back. I'll go by one day and let the vision place adjust them a little better. I had just replaced a lens that she lost a couple of weeks ago...but all in all, she has been wearing glasses since she was four and has only had to replace one pair because of damage (in Texas)...and I think they were covered by a warranty.

Then our Internet was out all day Wednesday and part of Thursday...I cursed that blasted cable company again....but it wasn't their fault....our wireless router had went bad....ha. I don't care, I'm still gonna blame them...ha.

So now, we are waiting for 'Ida', the school is closing two hours early and will be closed tomorrow and they were already going to be out Wednesday. Hopefully it won't be too bad...

Have a great day,
Sheila

We survived the trick or treaters...

Halloween is over so it's time to move on to Thanksgiving. We had a good amount of trick or treaters, but they seemed to come in bunches. We had a buzz lightyear, princesses, dracula, power ranger and others. We also had a group of girls dressed as football players and boys as the cheerleaders, complete with rouge on their cheeks, the boys not the girls...ha.
But it's over now and we have too much candy left over...but we always buy too much...you would think we do that on purpose...ha. I didn't scare any one but 'J's friends who came by, the others were to young. We had some little strobe lights around the door that were sound and motion activated and they made scary sounds, so that was enough for the younger ones.

'C' went to her friends Friday night to make funnel cakes, they didn't turn out well so she wanted us to get a recipe and try them. So Saturday we found a recipe online, I bought a funnel cake kit years ago so I had the container to pour the batter from. They turned out pretty good. We put powdered sugar on them, but I think next time I'm going to put strawberry on mine, kind of like strawberry shortcake.

'C' went to another friends birthday party on Saturday night and when 'J' and I went to pick her up, 'J' wore my 'michael myers'(spelling?) mask (from the movie 'Halloween') while I drove. She had a good time seeing peoples reactions...ha.

Sunday we fixed a pot of chili, and we have left overs in the fridge.

I hope everyone has a great week,
Sheila

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! BOO!!

Well the decorations are out and we're getting ready for the little trick or treaters. We might scare some of the bigger kids...

I tried to hit an armadilla in the head with a left over piece of sprinkler pipe...

Yesterday morning...

but he/she ran before I could get to him/her.

So I threw the pipe at him/her...

missed, but got close...

It was a light color instead of dark...never seen one that color before.

I hope I scared it enough it doesn't come back....

Hope everyone has a fun day...
Sheila

Grrr...

Good Morning Everyone,

I had to decorate my blog for Halloween. Thanks to Joyce at 'Tags Only' for the header picture and entry picture. http://tagsandalittlechatter.blogspot.com/. I don't know how to put it in where all you have to do is click 'Joyce' or 'tags only'. (Thanks Debbie, I tried it and it worked, quite simple really...ha.)

We have the worst cable company ever. I won't say the name of it but it starts with an 'M' has 'edia' in the middle and 'com' on the end... :) We have been pretty lucky, of all the places we have lived, we have had pretty decent service...but not here...we had the service since we moved here over 4 years ago, and I have lost count of how many times I have had to call them to come out.

Yeah, I know I could call a satellite service but you are stuck with them for two years and they may be as bad or worse...but they are still an option. We have a cable box in the corner of our front yard by the woods, but we aren't hooked up to that one...oh no, we are hooked up to the one on the other side of our neighbors, because the wire was cut to ours and I guess it was too much trouble to fix!? They did fix it eventually, a few years later.

They never came back to bury our cable when we moved in, so when they were building the house next door, the workers buried it for us. Well come to find out, the cable was above the ground by the box (probably from an earlier fix) and the neighbors lawn service run over it with their lawn mowers...so our cable went out about 3:00 pm Friday. It would have been out until yesterday morning, because that's as soon as they could get a technician out, but Hubby went and bought some connectors when he got back from golf Saturday and reconnected it. (couldn't miss those football games...ha)

But it still didn't work, so we found a cable with connectors on both ends that was left over from our house in Texas. He hooked that one up in place of the old one that was coming out of the box and it worked. He called them and told them he wanted them to make sure they notified me when they got here to fix it because he wanted our cable back..ha. So the guy put new cable on, gave me ours back and buried it...and I got a new remote...ha. Oh well, can I keep my fingers crossed that nothing else will ever happen??

We took it easy the rest of the weekend, 'C' went over to a friends Saturday and then to the fair with her on Sunday. We also grilled hamburgers and hot dogs on Sunday.

Hubby and I went to the doctor yesterday for his biopsy results. He doesn't have cancer, but he has a small spot of 'funny' cells, not cancerous or pre-cancerous but they will keep an eye on them. He'll go back in six months for a check.

Have a great day,
Sheila

Cookies, Hubby, X-Men and Snow....

Hi,

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. 'C' decided Wednesday that she wanted to make cookies from scratch. So we went by after school and picked up the stuff we would need. No, I usually do not make cookies from scratch, I buy the packs you break off the squares and cook...quicker...ha. She mixed up the dough with a little bit of my help. She split it into thirds with chocolate chip in one, white chips and macadamia nuts in another and reeses peanut butter chips in the last. They tasted pretty good.

Hubby went for his biopsy, he will go the 26th for the results. The doctor didn't see anything suspicious on the ultrasound so I hope that is a good sign. He did have a problem later on with his blood pressure dropping too low, making him feel faint. I kept it checked, it was 92/60 first, then 89/59 then 90/60. It finally went up enough he started feeling better. They added 5mg of Lisinopril earlier this year, I think I blogged about it. I didn't think it was necessary because what he is taking keeps his blood pressure low enough and that just made it lower. I think that, in addition to what they gave him for the biopsy, is what caused it to drop. But he is better now, he didn't have any pain and he played golf this morning.

I also watched all of the X-Men movies with daughter 'J'. Not my usual type movie but they were 'ah- ight'...southern for alright.

My Mama scanned some pictures and sent them to me so I could show Lucy that we have gotten some pretty good snowstorms in the south. The first three are from 1973 and the last two are 1994. We got one in 1977 too but we didn't have any pictures of that one.
This is standing in front of the house, facing our neighbor.

My brother Terrie and I and our dog Skipper.
Doesn't looked posed does it...ha.
Us again by our neighbors fence. She lost that metal building
(behind us) a few years later in Hurricane Eloise.

I lived in Kansas at this time so
I missed this one.

Oh yeah, it was cool enough for a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt yesterday.
I'll go now,
Have a great weekend everyone,
Sheila

Dentists, doctors, drivers licenses and shopping...

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my Mom. We're all good here. We had a little bit of rain off and on all week.

The girls and I had our 6 month dentist appt. for cleaning and checking on Tuesday and we are good for another 6 months. Hubby had an appt. on Wednesday, he has to go next Friday for a prostate biopsy. I hope it comes out well. 'J' and I had to go yesterday and get our licenses renewed. Afterward we went shopping a little, I got two more sets of sheets for our bed. Hubby somehow managed to rip a hole on his side down around his feet...for the 2nd time. I couldn't find just a bottom sheet to replace them, so I just bought two more sets. I also got me and 'J' a pair of pajama bottoms, me a pajama top to match and 'C' a sleep shirt with matching over the knee socks. She's had the socks on ever since...ha. She did take them off to take a shower. 'J' is going to get a matching t-shirt to wear with her pajama bottoms. She doesn't like the kind of top that went with the bottoms. She also got another pajama bottom and baseball style t-shirt at a different store.

Poor hubby didn't get to play golf today. The bigwigs were here from overseas so they had a 'bored' meeting today...I mean board meeting.... ;D They have a new contract with a customer they have been negotiating. I was texting the football scores back and forth to him...ha. But it's not all bad, he will play golf tomorrow.

Ok, I have bored you enough,
Have a great weekend,
Sheila

Red popsicles...

Fall and Autumn MySpace Comments and Graphics

satisfaction.com

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all having a great weekend. Hubby's test came out fine. He had one small polyp they took out. So he's good for three to five years. He had requests for food after he got home, Subway for lunch, a frosty from Wendy's and fried shrimp and french fries for supper. Though we actually buy the breaded shrimp and cook them in the oven and fry the french fries. Today, after golf, he has eaten all his 'red' sugar free popsicles he couldn't eat Thursday. Now he is dozing in the chair...maybe he'll perk up when the Alabama game comes on.

Well it was sunny here for a little while today. When hubby got home from golf it started pouring. But it has stopped for now.

Glad to hear Jack and Sherry made it home to Shirl's Always Open RV park. I hope they find the new improvements to their liking....Get them locked in tight Shirl...

Have a great weekend,

Sheila

Just a short note...

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the nice comments about my blog layout. Nothing much happening this week. Hubby did go driving with 'C' to Wally world over the weekend. She said he was a lot calmer than I was...ha. He is home today getting ready for his colonoscopy tomorrow. I hope you'll send up some prayers that it all goes well.

Take care,

Sheila

Fall is coming...

Hello Everyone,

I am still alive! I have stomped the brake on the passenger side so much I have worn the soul of my shoe off on the pavement...ha. Just kidding, 'C' is driving pretty well, I am not quite as scared as I was in the beginning, but she still makes me nervous. Her Dad may take her driving today, she wants to go to Wally world for something.

I am transitioning into fall, did away with the beach scenes. I think I am ready for fall.

Hubby went this morning and bought us a new TV. The one we have has problems with the color wheel. It still works for now, so we'll put it upstairs until it totally goes out. Maybe it will last awhile since we won't be watching it everyday. It would cost quite a bit to have someone fix it so we decided to get one slightly larger but thinner. The old one is a DLP TV and it is a lot thicker than the LCD, which is what we got. Maybe I'll get to watch a movie on it tonight.

Okay, I'll go for now,
Take care,
Sheila

Oh what fun...

Hi,

Well my youngest daughter 'C' finally decided she wanted to go get her drivers permit. We went Thursday to get it. Effective August 10, 2009 they have to have a form signed by the school that they are enrolled. I checked the website before we went to see what was needed and the form wasn't mentioned. So we had to go back to the school and get the form signed and then go back. But she did walk out with a drivers permit...I am so looking forward to teaching her to drive...yeah right....ha.

My oldest daughter 'J' has a birthday coming up on Monday. So she wanted to go out to eat and to see the new 'Madea' movie with her friends. She and her friends went out to eat first at O'Charleys, then I met them at the movie theater. We had a good time. Hubby had to go to Memphis on Thursday and didn't make it back until about 9:00 last night.

Okay, I'll close for now,
Take care,
Sheila

Labor day and love bugs...

Hi Everyone,

Hope all of you are doing well. Nothing much going on this week, battling a little sinus stuff, just allergy probably. Getting ready to go to the parents for the weekend. My buzzard attracting brother and his family are coming too (See a previous post). Hopefully the buzzards won't be around this weekend.

We welcomed back the love bugs on Sept. 1, they will probably be around until the end of the month. They come in May and Sept. and are a pain in the rear. But thankfully they haven't been as bad as they were after hurricane Katrina.

they fly around in pairs-stuck together
trying to procreate in a short amount of time.
If you don't have these wonderful bugs in your town, be thankful.
Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone,
Sheila

Update...

Thanks everyone for the prayers and good wishes. The doctor said my Dad made it through the surgery fine. If all goes well, he should be able to go home early in the morning. Keep my Mom in your thoughts too, she has had a lot to shoulder with the stress and worry and taking care of him all this time....plus he can be a little ornery...ha.
Thanks,
Sheila

Prayers needed...

Please send up prayers for my Dad as he goes in for surgery in the morning to have his gall bladder removed. Hopefully this will put an end to the problems he has been having.
Thanks in advance,
Sheila

You say scuppernong...I say scup'lin...

Okay Lucy, this is for you. Scup'lins...southern slang...also known as scuppernongs or muscadines. I have been eating both kind. The bronze scuppernongs is what I have (look kind of green here). I had a dark one but it never made any and eventually gave up the ghost. They don't taste like a regular grape, and I don't eat the skin, it is too thick, some people might I don't know. But I suck the inside of the skin to get all the sweet goodness...ha. But when I eat too many, they make my back teeth sharp (I don't know if that is a universal saying, but basically makes my teeth sensitive, not to heat or cold, but when chewing). But it doesn't stop me from eating them...got to get them while I can.

Thanks for stopping by,
Sheila

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Is that a breeze I feel...?

I forgot to tell you on the last post that I got a big handful of scup'lins off of my vines Sunday. But they had the bronze and the dark ones at the grocery store when I went and I bought some more there.

The weather has been beautiful and cooler the last few days. It was 65 degrees yesterday and today when I took 'C' to school. I went by st*bucks this morning for a change and got a breve' caramel mocha and an oatmeal raisin cookie. They did a fairly good job of getting the taste right this time. The cookie tasted better than ones I've had before too. I guess I got spoiled, S*bucks can't make them as well as my favorite coffee shop in Washington did. Plus they had an oatmeal granola bar with cranberries that I loved and I miss it.

Don't tell Jack, but I had some more tomato sandwiches...

Ok, I'll go,
Take care,
Sheila

Shopping run....

I made a run to Target today, wanted a new iron, the old one still works but it randomly leaks on my clothes. Not out of the bottom, like they usually do. Yes I am still one of the ones that irons their clothes. My children probably won't, I do iron 'C's school clothes, but 'J's in college now and I'm done ironing hers. I picked up a few things on my grocery list there also, and a few things that weren't...ha.

Then it was off to the grocery store. I saw 'J's friend 'H' there. She recently got her a new vehicle and I asked how she liked it. She said it was quieter than her other one...ha. I never heard any unusual noises out of her old car...

Pest service guy is coming tomorrow, we have service where he comes every three months. In Texas our house had a 'pest defense system'. It had lines or something that ran in between the outside and inside walls and they just hooked up to an outlet on the outside walls and it put the chemicals in that way.

I'll go now,
Everyone have a great week,
Sheila

Dump, dollars and drawers...

Hi Everyone,

Hubby took the rest of the junk to the dump last weekend. This was junk that we stacked up when the garage was cleaned out. We put out as much as we could with the regular trash.

This week has been a fun one of paying $$$ tuition, buying books more $$, and 'J' and I got new cell phones. Remember 'C' got hers last month because hers quit working, she was already due a new one, but I was waiting so we would all have one that expires about the same time. 'C' got the LG Dare and 'J' and I got the enV3. 'J' doesn't think an old dog can learn new tricks, but I'll show her...ha.

Well I got a little sidetracked when I was cleaning Thursday. The TV stand in the bedroom has two drawers on the bottom. I had some of my books, that I'm waiting to read, in them and a few that I have read. Well they caused the bottom of the top drawer to fall down some. So I took out both drawers, one at a time, took the bottom off, run some wood glue in the grooves, slid the bottom back in and put some extra tack nails in. Hopefully they will stay together. I also put the books somewhere else since they are too heavy for the drawers.

Oh and Jack I had me two tomato sandwiches this week, they were good. I didn't eat any of the kind that make Lucy gag...ha.

Ok, I'll go for now,
Hope everyone has a great weekend,
Sheila

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

No gag zone...

Okay, it is time for me to write a new post. I don't want to keep causing Lucy to gag every time she checks my blog...ha.

We're all good here. Traffic has gotten a little better at 'C's school, knock on wood, and 'J' started college today. 'J' is so happy....she can wear jeans to college (public school here has a uniform policy) and she only has to go on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

We have been getting a lot of rain, it's better than having no rain, but I'm ready to have a few days of sunshine...ha. Rain, rain go away, little johnny wants to play...

Well I'll go for now,
Take care,
Sheila

Bad traffic and bananas...

Good morning,

It is another day, the drive to take my daughter to school is still crazy. I tried going a different way (longer, but less traffic, until you get close to the school) but it was no better. It still came to a standstill as you got close to the school. Oh well, I tried, hopefully it will get better when they finish fixing the road right there at the school.

I've got a question, how many out there has eaten a banana sandwich?...no peanut butter, this isn't an Elvis thing. Just white bread, mayonaisse and banana. When I lived and worked in Kansas I took one for lunch one day. I waited until it was time to eat before I sliced the banana to put in it. I think they thought I was crazy...ha. They asked did I make them out of apples too...ha...no, just bananas. Though I like them with pineapple instead of banana too. I also like chocolate milk when I eat a banana. Okay let's hear from you now...

Take care,
Sheila

School days, school days....

Hello Everyone,

School started back today without too much of a hitch. Traffic was terrible even leaving earlier than usual. They are working on the road right near the entrance to the school, so it was stop and go. They also were late letting them out because the buses were late getting there. Oh well hopefully it will work itself out as time goes on.

She did get the teacher we didn't want (she may be the only one that teaches that class), but she was making comments about being better this year. So I'm hoping she was talked too and things will be better.

We did have to run by the orthodontist after school so he could fix a wire in back that was scratching her cheek.

So all in all we survived the first day of school. 'J' doesn't start until the 19th.

Take care,
Sheila

Friday, August 7, 2009

You can't fool the DMV...

Yesterday, 'C' had an orthodontist appointment, so we went looking for school clothes afterward. She didn't really want to but we did anyway...ha. She has to wear khaki pants and white or light blue shirt. We got plenty of white shirts, she didn't really want blue. She also picked out some 'regular' clothes. A few shirts and a pair of jeans and a pair of capris. She didn't like the way the khaki pants at Kohls fit. They didn't have any at Sears. So we'll have to find some somewhere else. She can still wear the ones from last year if she has too until we find some she likes.

Hubby had to go and get his license renewed today. He has been grey-headed or salt and pepper (more salt than pepper now) for many years, but he always puts brown for hair color. The lady asked him if he was sure he wanted brown instead of grey. Did he think his hair was still brown? They went back and forth a little. Finally he said what color do you think it should be? His hair is now listed as grey on his driver's license...you can't win with the DMV...ha. But we can still lie about our weight...they don't have a scale to put you on...ha.

Have a great day,
Sheila

Look what I found...

Do you remember when I went to my parents at Christmas? We saw many, many buzzards off in the distance. I mentioned it in my blog. My brother, who was also visiting, decided to become buzzard bait...Well I was getting pictures off my cell phone because I will be getting a new one in a couple of weeks and these pictures were on there. They're not the greatest of course, with it being a cell phone, but here they are...

It didn't take long for the buzzards to start circling him...
I think there were more buzzards than show in this picture.

One actually swooped down, but didn't get him...ha

I guess having a red shirt on helped...
Hope this made you smile,
Sheila

A hard one...

I wasn't sure I wanted to post this because it was so hard to write. Some of our extended family has tragically lost two beautiful 2 year olds, twins, a boy and a girl. They accidentally drowned. If you pray, please keep their family in your prayers.

Also my Stepson's mother was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, please say a prayer for her and her family.

Thanks,
Sheila

It was fun while it lasted...

Hello all,

Well my daughter 'J' and her friends went to the beach on Monday. They got home Thursday evening. It has been hot here this summer, but not quite as bad as it usually is. Plus we have been getting rain, I don't think we got much last year in July.

It's almost that time again. School starts back Aug. 10th. 'C' and I went Wednesday to register her. She got a teacher for math that her and her sister have had before. We requested a different teacher, because we don't like her teaching skills...or lack of...we'll see what happens. 'C's a good student and would do fine in her class, but I just don't want her to have this teacher again if possible.

Hubby took off work last Thursday and Friday and we painted our daughter 'C's bedroom. She picked bright pink when we moved here in 2005. She has wanted it painted for a couple of years now. So now it is Elephant grey. We told her she better be sure because we're not painting it again...ha. I will post pictures of the room before and after when I get them. 'C' has them on her camera.

Have a great weekend everyone,
Sheila

Our blooming Crepe Myrtle...

We have about 5 crepe myrtles at our home, but this one is full of blooms. If you've read my previous entries you know why our grass is missing. You can see a post on the top right where my Scuppernongs (or as we say scupplin's) are. There's a pile of wood back there too from some trees we cut down.

My Dad got to go home from the hospital yesterday. He'll have to go back as an outpatient in a few weeks. Then we'll see whether he'll have his gall bladder out or not. Thanks for all your prayers.

It has been pretty here the last few days and not quite as hot. We have a chance of rain the next few days.

I'll go for now,
Take care,
Sheila
