Happy Halloween!!!

We fixed up this old guy once when we lived in Kansas. You might have to look close, but the pumpkin has the grim reaper and his sickle (or scythe). Maybe one Halloween I'll put something out and then on the actual night switch it out for a real person (Hubby), and scare a few of the older kids...ha.

Hope everyone has had a good day!
Take care,
Sheila

The skeletons are rattling...

The second recycled costume...first Jarin then Cori...

This is Jarin's version.

She actually startled herself when she looked in the mirror.

Cori's version...

she doesn't look to happy as a skeleton either...ha.

with Jarin, the pink power ranger.

And a picture with Dad.

Cori didn't have to wear her sister's costume hand-me-downs after the bunny and the skeleton...

Why are graveyards so noisy?
Because of all the coffin...

Sheila

Let's travel back in time...

Jarin's first two Halloween costumes were recycled for Cori...

This is Jarin as a bunny,
we were at my parents for this Halloween.

She doesn't look to happy about having ears..

Talk about not happy!
This is Cori as a bunny and of course
Jarin is Snow White.
Watch how Jarin takes care of the crying sister...

Jarin looks quite happy with herself for
quieting her sister...ha
hey, but it worked.

Enjoying candy with Daddy!

Thought I would share some Halloween pics the next few days...
Take care,
Sheila

Night of the thunder boomers....

AHHHAHHAHA BOO!!

Nothing much happening this week. Cori made it through her ACT test and thinks she did pretty good...will be a few weeks before we get the results.

We had some strong thunderstorms through here last night, but didn't have any problems...I was afraid the electricity might go off and render our alarm clocks useless, but thankfully that didn't happen. Still rainy outside today, but I don't think thunderstorms are forecast for us. I think some counties above us have tornado watches though.

Mom sent new pictures of Jett, he's starting to get a little black color on him.

Need to load up on Halloween candy soon. They want us to gather up at the main parking lot (where the pool and such are) to give out candy here Saturday night. It is supposed to be colder this weekend. May go pick me up a Halloween shirt to wear.

Jarin is at the dentist today getting her teeth cleaned and her mouth guard made. They called me last week so I got to go in early and get my cleaning. At least next time we'll get the exam and cleaning the same day.

Happy Halloween!
Beware of the ghosts and goblins!

Take care,
Sheila

Test, test and tires...

Yesterday was an expensive day...after reading through the driver's handbook for NC Thursday, I went yesterday to get my new license. Thankfully I got the first 20 questions right so I didn't have to take all 25. The last time we had to take a written test to change our license was in Mississippi when we first married....well, we also had to take one in Kansas, but it was an open book test...and this was back when they were still written (on paper) tests. But I now have my temporary license, no picture on it like Alabama's temp, so I will have to wait for the shock of the driver's license picture...oh well, I'll brace myself and hope for the best...

Took Jarin's car in to get a front end alignment too...ended up with a new set of tires for it. We knew they were getting close to needing to be changed but two were worse than the others. But at least now, she is ready for winter and she gets free rotation and balance anytime she wants, flat fixes and road hazard insurance.

A few weeks ago, I was talking to the cashier at Cr*cker B*rrel (I had my Alabama shirt on) and she was originally from Saraland, near Mobile. Then yesterday Jarin and I ate lunch at a place we haven't tried yet and the girl working there was from Semmes, a little town very close to where we lived. Always a nice feeling to run into someone from your home state.

Cori is taking her ACT test this morning. Wishing her good luck!
It was cold this morning too, around 38 degrees.

Take care,
Sheila

Dentist day...always fun...not!

Cori 9 1/2 months old

It looks like she enjoys brushing her teeth in these pictures...
not so....It was a fight to brush her teeth,
she didn't care for haircuts too much either,
when she finally got enough hair to cut.

The girls and I went for our dental exam and x-rays yesterday. Being new patients, we have to go back for the cleaning. Cori gets to go back today at 4 pm. Jarin goes back the 27th, she has to have a night guard made to keep her from grinding her teeth at night. Hubby said just get her a mouth guard like football players wear...ha. I go back the 11th of November, unless they get a cancellation, then they'll call me. Cori also has to go to an oral surgeon for a consultation. She has only one wisdom tooth...just one...in her whole mouth...but it looks like the top is facing you on the x-ray...kind of like a smiley face if it had eyes and mouth...anyway, she needs to get it checked to see if it needs to come out or just watch it, so that it doesn't mess up what the orthodontist has already corrected. If I was a gambling woman...which I sometimes am...I bet on him wanting to take it out...

Hubby had a business dinner last night so the girls and I went out to eat at R*by T*esday. They got the chicken mushroom pasta and I got chicken fresco with a baked potato and grilled asparagus. Jarin and I got the salad also.

Got Jarin's tires on her car rotated last week and the tire monitor light came on so we took it by again yesterday to let them check to see if a tire had a nail or something. The tires hadn't lost any air so they reset the tire monitor... hopefully that is all it needed.

I'll go before I write a book,
take care,
Sheila

A Nice Day...

There is a Catholic Church across from the apartments and they were having their fall bazaar yesterday. I went over there to see what they had. I didn't buy anything, but I entered four raffles for a dollar apiece. After I got home, Hubby and I went up to Kernersville to look at a couple of new subdivisions there. Then we went over to Greensboro to pick up a prescription at the pharmacy he was using when he first got up here. Then we did a little shopping at Kohls and Dick's sporting goods. We got home in time to watch Alabama get beat, I even put on my Alabama t-shirt but it didn't help...oh well I still love the Tide, win or lose.

Jack, I will put the picture of my Mom and Dad back up after Halloween.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Birthdays and Anniversaries...

My Mom had a birthday this past Sunday (Oct. 3), her 39th... :)

My in-laws celebrated their 62nd anniversary (also on Oct. 3) (pretty good since my Mother-in-law is only 39 too).

and my Father-in-Law turned 82 on Oct 7th.

Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary!!
We love you all!

Hubby made it to his eye exam last week and should get his new glasses in about a week. 'C' had an appointment Tuesday for a new Orthodontist. We liked him, he has a good sense of humor. She gets to go without her retainers during the day. She'll go back in about 6 weeks to see how she is doing. Next week the girls and I will go for our dental check-up. The downside to moving, having to start over with new doctors and dentists and such.

update...they called Hubby and told him his glasses were in, glad it didn't take two weeks....

Take care,
Sheila

Grumbling and grooming...

Here are some pictures of 'J's birthday cake.

We didn't get the insert for the chair that went with the new dining set 'within a week'. Hubby called them last weekend and threatened to bring the whole thing back and get his money back. They asked him to bring the chair and they would swap it out with one there...well, after going all the way there, they didn't have a chair in that color. They asked would he mind waiting while they went to another store and he said 'yes I would, just give me the insert out of the one you have.' They said they would try but didn't know if it would come out...well it did and he came home and put it in and now we have our chair. We did get a 50 dollar gift card 'within the week'. And a few days later we got a small bag of inserts..!?

Took 'J's dog Rylie to get her shots. I had to get two on Monday and then take her back on Thursday for the last one and a flea pill. She was too small to give them all on one day...she weighs only 3.8 pounds. Then I took her Friday to get groomed. I took before and after pictures, the best I could...she is scared of the camera because it flashes a red light before it takes the picture.

Before

(her hair grows straight out to the side on her neck
and she has a beard, plus longer hair on her chest)

After

(J's feet)

Her new shirt I bought her.

She also got a new collar out of the deal...ha.

Take care,

Sheila
