Our blooming Crepe Myrtle...

We have about 5 crepe myrtles at our home, but this one is full of blooms. If you've read my previous entries you know why our grass is missing. You can see a post on the top right where my Scuppernongs (or as we say scupplin's) are. There's a pile of wood back there too from some trees we cut down.

My Dad got to go home from the hospital yesterday. He'll have to go back as an outpatient in a few weeks. Then we'll see whether he'll have his gall bladder out or not. Thanks for all your prayers.

It has been pretty here the last few days and not quite as hot. We have a chance of rain the next few days.

Brother, my brother...

Hi Everyone,

This is a picture of my younger brother and his new fiance'...he's the one who enjoys hiking and just recently ran solo in a canoe race.

Now we need your prayers again, my Dad was taken to the hospital this morning. He will have a procedure sometime tomorrow, that will hopefully take care of his problem. It appears he has a blockage in his bile ducts, probably a gall stone.

Walkin' in the rain...

Hi,

We have managed to get a little thunder, lightning and rain for the last few days. I've had all my fans outside trying to blow some to Lucy, Paula and Shirl. Let me know if you get it...

I ran some errands with 'C' Monday. Her cell phone wasn't working right, she couldn't hear people... So she looked online and picked out the one she liked so I took her to the Verizon store to look at it. Wanted to make sure that was the one she wanted. Then I took her to get a haircut. Oh, and her friend 'K' went with us. We stopped at Rite Aid on the way home to get some shampoo and conditioner she wanted to try and eyeliner. She can't live without her eyeliner. It had started raining so we went next door to Subway. I got them something to eat and they ate it there while we waited for the rain to slack off. I ordered her phone online Tuesday and it came today. She was due a new phone, but I was waiting until mine and 'J's was up so we would be due at the same time. But we can change phones next month, so we're close enough.

Hubby had a hard day at work today...he had to take someone to play golf... ;)

Stick your feet in the water...

Ok, it seemed like a good time to cool things down, so I brought out the beach colors and scene.

I hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

Nothing much going on here. Hubby cut the grass and afterward we got a little thunderstorm.

Hubby, 'J' and I watched 'Gran Torino' with Clint Eastwood last weekend, it was a good movie. We were going to watch 'Lakeview Terrace' after, but it had already gone off 'On Demand'. But I rented it Friday so we watched it last night. It had Samual L. Jackson in it and was good too. Later last night 'C' and I watched 'Saving Grace' on HBO On Demand. Craig Ferguson was in it (from late night TV). He was also one of the writers. It was a cute movie that took place in Britain.

I think it's time to go get a popsicle,

More beans...

Hello,


Ok, I promised to take a picture of those long french green beans (that's what Winn Dixie called them anyway). I layed them out next to a 12 inch ruler. They may have been some kind of mutation...ha or hybrid. But I have never seen any kind of green or string bean this long. They tasted good even if they did look a little strange.



It is now Saturday, July 11th.
We did get some more rain yesterday.

Hubby is out playing golf today. He's missed a few weekends with the yard work and holiday.

Beans and things...

Hello everyone,

We had a rainy day today, not heavy, so it was nice. The temperature stayed in the high 70's most of the day. I could have used this weather on Friday and Saturday. Shirl, I'll try to push some of these rain clouds up your way. The weather people are saying chance of rain and mid 80's this week. I hope they are right, especially the mid 80's part...I went to get the tag for my car today...only took an hour and fifteen minutes. Also made a run to the dry cleaners to drop some clothes off, and to the grocery store. I bought some fresh french green beans that are long, I mean really long, at least a foot maybe more. I have never seen any kind of green bean that was this long. I'll try to get a picture to post.
We had a nice 4th, the steaks were good...sorry Jack. I went out and watched some of the fireworks the neighbors had. We had some but we weren't much in the mood to shoot them off. Good for Lucy, she was able to sleep through her neighbors fireworks.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Wishing everyone a great 4th of July...

We have been working some more in the backyard. Hubby was off yesterday so we planted a few plants and put a border around our plants and trees in the backyard. Today we put pine straw in it. He's also fixing an area around the air conditioning units so he can put rocks down. He had to make another run to Lowes for some type of border. We should be done soon, then we will grill us a steak. Sorry Jack, I shouldn't use the 'S' word around you...ha. Well, he is back from the store, so I will head out to finish up.

I'm still here...

Hello Everyone,


Sorry it has been so long since I've written. I was busy for awhile, I would get online at night to read my blogs, and start falling asleep. Then we went up to see my parents and hubby's parents. When we were driving up to my parents, just before I got to the exit where I get off the interstate, there was a white SUV pulled off the road in the medium of the interstate. As we got closer we could see a guy sitting out in the middle of the medium in a lawn chair sunning himself. Now, I'm not sure why you would pick that spot to work on your suntan....and I couldn't tell, but maybe he had shorts on...ha. I wish I could have gotten a picture but we weren't fast enough.

I got my car on June 20th. It is a Honda Accord EX-L V-6. The color is polished metal metallic (or dark grey) with grey leather interior.

I went out this morning to water some of my plants. We've gotten a few small tomatoes off our plants. We have a bell pepper and an eggplant growing. I planted some of my zucchini in a different place, they weren't doing well in the planters hanging from the deck rail. I had already planted some in a large container, so this morning I planted some around my other plants and a few out further in the yard where it is a little more shaded. See if that helps some in this heat. They bloom well but are not forming zucchini.
