Good morning everyone,
We're all good here. I had doctor's appointments two days in a row. Nothing serious, just the routine stuff. Hubby had one too on Tuesday. I forgot to turn off my cell phone when I went in Tuesday and Hubby phoned me when he was finished with his appointment, nothing like being flat on your back and hearing 'Hello darling, nice to see you...' coming from your purse...ha.
I went by Kohl's after my appointment yesterday and used my birthday gift from my parents, I bought a new 'Chaps' purse (on sale) and a new leather wallet (also on sale). Now the fun of cleaning out my other purse and wallet to transfer stuff into the new one. My other big gift was an ipod nano, purple no less, so I have finally made it to the 21st century...ha.
Oh, and I had some fried green tomatoes yesterday. I stopped by my favorite eating place (local, not a chain) yesterday to pick up some lunch for me and 'J', and Miss Willie peeked out and told me she had 2 orders of green tomatoes left over from yesterday if I wanted them......of course I do....they said my eyes lit up...ha. I told them I don't turn them down when I can get them. And they were very good...yum.
The weekends almost here!
Ok, I'll let you go for now,
take care,
Sheila

Award Ceremony...
Hi Everyone,
The local Congressional Art Show award ceremony was April 18th, at the Mobile Museum of Art. There is supposed to be one at the Capital during the summer. We have heard from two sources that there is a scholarship also, but we have not received anything to back that up, as of yet. I just wanted to share a couple of pictures from it.

This was taken for the school website.
This was with Rep. Jo Bonner
This is an oil pastel 'C' did for
me for my birthday.
One of my favorite singers.
We took her painting yesterday to be framed for hanging in the Capital. I used to work at a place that framed art, mostly Ducks Unlimited prints, so I knew it wouldn't come cheap...ha....and it didn't. They had everything but one of the mat colors, so we will take it back Friday when it comes in, and they will put it all together.
Thanks for stopping in,
Sheila

Happy 17th Birthday 'C'!!!!
Our Baby turned 17 today!
This is the child who ran around in tops and underwear at home...or at her grandparents...then she only wanted to wear dresses. The striped outfit above we bought for my oldest daughter, she never wore it. It was in her dresser drawer with the tags still on it when 'C' found it. She was four...she wore it, and wore it...until she was nine (it was a size 4). By the time I got rid of it, when we moved from Washington state, it was missing a couple of buttons. The top buttoned up the front, the bottom had buttons down it too, though they were non-working buttons. I would have to say that was the best money ever spent, it lasted more years than it should have.
Take care,
Sheila

I'm still here!
Hello,
Sorry it took me so long to make an entry. We are all good, I celebrated a birthday last week, Monday the 12th to be exact. 'C' was out for spring break last week so we just enjoyed hanging out at home. I took 'C' out for a family history lesson when we were home. I let her practice driving out on some of the back roads and after turning down one wrong road and having to back track, we drove by my aunt's house. She happens to live in the home my Mom grew up in.
Then we went up a little further, to the church that my grandfather helped build. We passed a couple walking on the way, I told 'C' not to hit them, they are probably related to us....and they were...
We walked around the church cemetery and I showed her all her relatives that are buried there. These were relatives on my Mom's side. Mom's sister, brother and their spouses, her sisters daughter, my grandparents, great aunts and uncles, Mom's cousins. 'C' had been there before when she was about four, but she didn't remember it.

Gone for the weekend...
Hi Everyone,
The girls and I came up to my parents yesterday. We are staying until Monday. So I will probably have to play catch up on the blogs I read when I get home. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Art and Academics...
Good morning Everyone,
Hope you are having nice weather in your town.
Have a bit of news I wanted to share with you...My youngest daughter 'C' won First Place in the Congressional Art Show. They will display the painting at the U.S. Capitol for one year, beginning in June I believe. There is a local award ceremony on April 18th, then there will be a ceremony, in June, in Washington DC. We are very proud of and for her. Here is a photo of the painting she took with her cell phone, just after she finished it.

'Lanterns''C' was also part of the Academic Lettering Ceremony at school on Friday. They are awarded to students with a 3.7 or higher grade point average.

Today, my Girls and I have our 6 month check-up at the dentist. I also have to run 'C' by the Orthodontist to get impressions of her teeth for new temporary retainers. She has permanent ones, but they don't hold her teeth in place as well. He says it is harder to hold bites in place, which is why she wore braces. I hope, in time, the permanent ones will do their job. Any way, the reason she needs new ones is... she broke the bottom one when she was brushing it clean last night...
Take care,
