Owww...

'C's birthday brownies
great professional decorating huh..

Well I survived my appointment for blood work. Then the doctor asked when I last had a tetanus shot.....hum--over twenty years ago.?! I didn't say that, I said it's been awhile. I have been married almost 23 years and early in our marriage I was cleaning a slightly cracked coffee pot (Mr. Coffee) and it broke and I cut my thumb. I used a bread twist tie as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. When I picked my husband up from work he thought I needed stitches, so we stopped by the hospital and I received two stitches and a tetanus shot.

'J' had to have blood work today and hubby goes tomorrow, so we'll all get to share in that fun...ha. Their's is just to check things for the medicine they take.

I went by Kohls afterwards and purchased some tennis shoes (sneakers to some) and a pair of jeans, they were both on sale. I could have swore I saw Shirl going in ahead of me...she must have hit the road heading south for some shopping while Jack and Sherry headed to the mountains...ha. I was looking for some shorts but they didn't have the kind I was looking for.

I'll go now,
take care,
Sheila

"Hotel Covington"...

If you remember, awhile back I had this picture of the old nursing home 'Covington Manor' that they were tearing down in my hometown...

This is an old picture of it when it was the 'Hotel Covington'.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. "C"'s birthday brownies were good. She went with friends to the mall yesterday to spend some of her birthday money.
I hope the weather is treating you good where you are. The sun is shining and it's about 80 degrees here.

Take care,
Sheila

It's all good...

Hello Everyone,

Hubby made it too his Cardiologist yesterday for his treadmill test and check-up. He did well on his treadmill test. He had a couple of extra beats but the Doctor said that was fine (he had to take medicine for a little while, for extra beats, after his heart attack). He took him off the Plavix so now he will take two 81 mg aspirins instead of one. His blood pressure was a little high so they gave him a pill to take in the mornings to supplement the blood pressure medicine he takes. He will go back Friday to make sure it's not lowering it too much. I'm afraid it might because I checked his blood pressure tonight and it was normal (he hasn't started taking the new med yet). I think he was just dreading having to do the treadmill test. I am going to check it everyday so he can show the results to the Doctor when he goes back.

Don't you hate it when they are working on a road that you have to travel on everyday. It looks like they are widening Airport Blvd here and it is a pain. I wish they had waited at least until school was out.

I'll go, 'J' and I have some soap opera to catch up on...ha.

Have a great weekend everyone,
Sheila

I'm Back...

Ok, we made it back from my Mom and Dad's. Jack, I had to get up there before she threw away any of that incriminating stuff she had hidden...ha. She had some leftover juice from her friendship cake so I just got her drunk on that and she told all the secrets...ha. Just kidding, she poured it down the drain before I had a chance too...

I guess I took some of our bad luck up there. Her stove blew out the bottom element on Easter morning. They have been able to fix that in the past but this time it caused the eyes on top to stop working and when you turned one on, the light inside the oven came on...weird. Then the next morning the coffee pot wouldn't work. I hope the bad luck is over now.

I have been getting caught up on all the blogs since I have been back.
To let you know, I heard from Jun, she is doing fine, her repairs are taking longer than expected so she is without Internet. I know some of you were concerned about her. I hope she's back up and running before long.

And for the record, I was born in 1963. I got the hints off the Internet. I could have said the year Kennedy was assassinated but that would have been to easy. "C" has a birthday on the 21st, I'll have to change her age on my profile..

I'll go now,
Take care everyone,
Sheila

Happy Easter...

Hello Everyone,

I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

We are heading to the parents for a few days. The girls are on spring break next week.
Hubby and I swapped vehicles today to get them serviced. He works closer to where I get mine serviced and I am closer to where he gets his serviced. And guess what...he had a screw in his tire too...ha. Same tire as mine. But his wasn't going flat. I got it fixed today.
They are building a house down the road from ours, that is probably where they are coming from.

Oh and I will be a year younger on Sunday, I started counting backwards at 39. I'll give you some hints to the year I was born in...

Studebaker the US Car Maker goes out of business and Ends production.
Pope John XXIII dies.
AT&T introduces touch tone phones.
Lava Lamp or The Astro Lamp Launched by Edward Craven Walker.

Have a great weekend,
Sheila

Tires and flats...

Hello Everyone,

I got home from the store yesterday and I noticed my rear tire was going flat. I aired it up this morning and looked it over and found a screw in it. Can I blame it on my husband since he drove it a few days while his window was broken? ha..
Anyway, I took it to my tire guy (yes, I have a tire guy, this is not my first flat...ha) today to get it fixed and I think I might have witnessed a miracle or at least a divine event....... a Man, walked into the shop and with almost no shame asked for directions, he broke the man rule of never asking for directions. Another lady and I were laughing about it and another man in there said his Dad always said, 'You don't stop to ask directions until you run out of gas'....ha. Maybe he was asking before he completely run out of gas....

We are a little cooler and a bit windy here today.

I hope you have a nice day,
Sheila

Another Birthday...

At our house last summer
(his brother survived that hug...ha)

Hello all,
Happy Birthday to 'S'.
Our oldest grandson turns 6 today.
On a sad note, one of my oldest friends lost her Father Wednesday night, please keep her and her family in your prayers.
Seems like so many have sadness in their lives lately.
Take care,
Sheila

Lightning....

(not taken by me, I got it off the Internet)

Hello,

Thanks to everyone who left such nice comments for my Dad.

Nothing much going on here. The girls and I had our six month check-up at the dentist Tuesday, all is well.

When we lived in Kansas we used to get some pretty lightning storms, (if you can call lightning that). It seemed to run sideways. We did get ones that struck the ground, but when it was just in the sky it was nice to watch. I haven't noticed anything like that here. It all seems to run to the ground.
Enjoy the weekend,
Sheila
