We celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary today.
We grilled out. We also worked outside. He cut grass and trimmed. I swept and washed the back porch and cleaned the table to the patio set. Still have some cushions and chairs to clean. We both carried the firepit off the deck and washed it out.
I am going to post some pictures, but I am just to tired to scan them tonight.
I have a backlog of film that I have started taking in to be developed. I take 3 rolls at a time, when I get that back I take 3 more. It has been almost like Christmas opening them to find out what is on them...ha. The earliest ones so far has been from summer 2001.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

I wanna be a cowboy and you can be my cowgirl...
Hello everyone,
Let me fill you in on the goings on...Thursday we had graduation, 'J' and her friend went to see a musical act in Florida after graduation (more on that later).
Friday Hubby took off work and played golf, good thing because it rained the rest of the time. Plus it's hard to get him to take off. He wanted to dig up the little strip of grass between our walkway and front flower bed and plant flowers, so he picked up some at Lowe's, Home Depot and Target.
We had the graduation party Saturday night for 'J' and her graduating friends at her friend's who had a pool. We had plenty of food, hot dogs, hamburgers, vegetable plate, fruit, beans, chips, dips, cake. They decorated the garage in a Hawaiian style with palm trees and coconut shaped cups for all the graduates. They sang karaoke while the food was grilled, we ate, then in a bit they all went swimming. The dip for the fruit was good, small jar of marshmallow creme and 8oz cream cheese or 2 cream cheeses and a large jar of marshmallow creme. After swimming they came in and cut the cake, then we all joined in on the karaoke. No adult would use the mike though, we just sang along in our chairs...ha.
Sunday Hubby got ready to trim the bushes in front before digging up the grass and planting flowers. Since we had just put down new pine straw, he wanted as much protection as possible in case a snake had slithered in...

The title of my entry is also the title of a song we heard alot (and sang along with) when we were first married.
A few years ago I searched hi and low for a CD with the song on it,
I didn't know who sang it or if that was the real title but I finally found one
and it was part of his anniversary present that year.
Now if I had just had a cowboy hat to put on him...ha.
(I warned him I was putting it on my blog)
'J' and her friend also went to my parents on Sunday and came back today, then headed to Dauphin Island so they could have a little more beach time before her friend went home tomorrow. They are at Red Lobster now, her friend has never eaten there.
We grilled out Monday after the rain slacked off. I won't say what we grilled, I don't want to fling a craving on Jack.
Tuesday was back to school for 'C', she had a test today and 2 tomorrow then she will get out around 11:00 am tomorrow. I think her friend is going to come home with her.
I am waiting for an icee and sugar babies when 'J' gets home...ha.
Have a great day tomorrow,
Sheila

Our budding artist...
Hi,
It's 'J's big day. She will be graduating tonight.
But right now I wanted to let you see two pictures that 'C' won second place for in the Spring Art show at School.
Now this picture she had to draw without
looking at the paper.

She also won third place with one, but the girl that brought her artwork back to her liked it, so she gave it to her. When she was in pre-school, the teachers told me one day that she drew santa on his sleigh with his reindeer on the chalk board. It was very good for a 4 year old. But the unique thing was she drew them from the feet up....So, congratulations to 'C' for her ribbons.
I hope everyone is having a nice day. It was sunny earlier but it is clouding up now. If it is going to rain I hope it gets it over with before the graduation.
Take care,
Sheila

A long day...
Hi,
I had a long day today and I am tired. I left home around 9:30am to run an errand. Then I went by the high school for Honors Day for the seniors. It was over about 11:30am so a group of us went to eat lunch at O'Charley's. Then I went to dry cleaners and Sears. Back to high school to pick up youngest child from school, take her home, pick up oldest child and head out again to Mall, Best Buy and Target. We had popcorn when we came out of Target and the wind blew some of mine onto the ground. We were attacked by seagulls...ha. Well not really attacked ourselves but they dive bombed the popcorn on the ground and I was hoping they wouldn't come after the popcorn in the bags...ha. Finally we got home around 6:30pm. My feet and back were aching. I cooked and we ate and now I'm resting...finally...Sleep should come easy tonight...ha.
Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow,
Sheila

A day to work outside...
Hi,
We were busy today. We cleaned out the beds by the deck today and planted some new things. Some of the things we had planted there kind of outgrew the space. Hubby moved those to the back of the yard. We put down pine straw back there too. We planted our vegetables also, we'll see how they do. I'm also trying to grow some green onions from seed. We were racing to beat the rain...ha. It is supposed to make it into the high 50's tonight. It is about 61 right now. We did get a little thunder and rain.
Well the countdown to graduation begins. 'J' graduates on Thursday the 21st. She has a friend from Washington state who is flying in on Wednesday and staying through the 28th. A graduation party on Saturday. Then she plans to go up to her Grandparents, probably on Sunday.
Take care,
Sheila

when it rains, it pours...
Hello,
Hope everyone is doing fine. Hubby didn't play golf today. He went to Lowes to pick up some more pine straw and his truck would not start when he came back out. He thought the battery might be going bad because of the way it was acting yesterday. The battery light came on today. He got a friend to go by and jump off his battery (we have a pair of jumper cables...but they were in the garage...not much help where he was). He went by the auto parts store and bought a new one. The truck is a 2007, you would think the battery would last longer than that. Anyhoo, after he got back we ate some lunch and by the time we were through it had started raining. Oh well, maybe we'll get something done after while.
'C' invited one of her friends over for a little while.
'J' and I decorated her car the other day for graduation...the bottom picture had a little glare from the sun, even though the sun was obscured by clouds. If you click on it you can probably see it better. (sshh...it also has her name on it, but don't tell anyone.. :)

Summer's just around the corner...
Hi,
Hubby went to Lowes Sunday and bought some bales of pine straw and we put that out around our beds in front. He also bought a few plants to put out back but we haven't put them out yet. He cut the grass and something bit him on the earlobe. Don't know what it was but his ear swelled up for a few days. I also cranked the generator to let it run a few minutes, hurricane season will be here soon. Hubby's brother had a heart attack on Sunday, the same age my hubby was when he had his, but he is doing fine now. He got out of the hospital yesterday. He had to have two stents put in. My hubby had his heart attack on Sunday too.
Now to change the subject...my oldest daughter said 'da-da' first instead of Ma-ma. Probably because he travelled a lot for work at the time. So when he called there was a lot of 'come talk to Daddy', 'it's Daddy'...etc. Well when she was about 17 months old we were able to go to England with him for several months. Shortly after going over there she finally called me....Mum....ha. Didn't pick up on Mama or mommy all that time before but just a short time in England and she picked up on the kids there and called me Mum...it's was pretty cute.
Now, her last day of school is tomorrow and she will graduate on May 21st. Time sure passes fast, seems like only yesterday she was starting school.
Take care,
Sheila

Cholesterol and colds...
Hi,
Just for the record I didn't get my cholesterol that low on my own. When we lived in Washington State my cholesterol was 301, I went to a dietitian and was able to get it down to 278, then we moved to Alabama. It went back up again but I got it down to 265. I tried a while longer to get it down more but couldn't. The doctor told me it was genetics too like Kay's, not just what I eat so I have been taking Vitorin. But I was still a little surprised to get it down to 158.
I thought it was time for a new view on the blog since we are heading toward summer. It's warm enough here for flip flops so I went with that for now.
Well 'C' is getting better, but I think she may have passed it on to me and 'J'...ha. But I loaded up on medicine today at Rite Aid so we're good...and orange juice for vitamin C. We'll survive...
Just don't stand too close to this blog while you read...wouldn't want you to catch it... :-)
Take care everyone,
Sheila

Doctors and tomatoes...
Hello all,
Took youngest daughter to the doctor today, she had stuffy head and sore throat on Sunday with a temp of 100. But she has just been congested the rest of the time, no temperature. She had a little bit of a headache last night so I took her to the doctor today, just to make sure no sinus infection, plus she needed a doctor's note for school. I told her to show her cyst on her finger joint to him while we were there and she was feeling for it and couldn't find it. It went away on it's own, hopefully it will stay gone.
I got my results back on my cholesterol and it was 158, down from 177 last year.
Hubby picked us up four tomato plants Saturday at Lowes. Maybe they'll grow better than last year's. I also bought a tray today to start some green onion seeds in.
Okay, I'll go now,
take care everyone,
Sheila
