Technical Difficulties.....

We have a new cable company now, already had to replace a DVR box because I would set it to record something and it would start to record then a few minutes later stop...

To start with you might get 27 minutes (out of 60), but as each new thing recorded it was less and less. The last thing it recorded only lasted 2 minutes. Most were my two soap operas I watch, and since I was behind I didn't realize it wasn't recording all of them. Any hoo, I watched all the full episodes I had then the cable guy came and gave us a new one. The ones not recorded I had to find on the Internet to watch....yes, the Internet is a wonderful thing...ha.

Now on to yesterday...I hadn't turned on the TV yesterday, so shortly before Hubby came home I turned it to the weather channel to see where the latest tropical storm was heading. I wasn't paying much attention to it and when Hubby came in he turned it to sports. While I was cooking, he asked 'what's going on with the TV?' Every one had a green tint....(aah, the martians have landed). It was that way on all channels...I unplugged the cable box a couple of times...tried adjusting the color on the TV....unplugged it from the box and connected it straight to cable, color was fine so we knew it wasn't our TV. Well a few hours later I called the cable company and set up an appointment for Saturday afternoon to replace the box...............

Then I thought, let me check the cables on the back of the box and where they connect on the TV... seemed to be connected good on the box, now the TV, all were plugged in good on the TV............noticed there were five plugged into the TV and I didn't remember but four on the box........ah ha! one was totally unplugged, plugged it in and VOILA!! people weren't green anymore....I defeated the martians!!!

Then with my head hung in shame I called back the cable company and told them we didn't need the technician after all.

All because I had dusted and had to lower the shelf the cable box is on.....

Have a great weekend!

Cars and Jetts...

Jack, I took this for you. It was in the parking lot next to Biscuitville (I am in the drive-thru of B'ville). I thought it kind of looked like Chief Harris' car Betsy. Tell me what year and make it is.

Here is a couple of new pictures of Mom's puppy Jett.

I plan to take a before and after picture of 'J's dog, when we take her to get groomed. She is a chihuahua too. She is part long hair so she has some strange hair growth...

'C' has senior pictures at school today. Tomorrow she has a doctors appt. to get a TB test for a volunteer job. Also made her an appt. with a new orthodontist for early October. Today I have to make us an appt. for our 6 month dental check-up...fun fun.. Hubby has been for his first doctors visit, to keep his meds filled. This doctor is supposed to recommend a cardiologist, he's going to ask around at work too. He also has a urologist scheduled. Next he needs an eye exam for some new glasses, his current ones are held together with spit and glue...literally...ha.

Making spaghetti tonight...don't want to write another book like last time so I'll close this...

Take care,

Sheila

North Carolina gave me hives...

Okay, technically Washington state gave me hives...but North Carolina brought them back. I did have them a few times in the first year or two of living in Mobile but then they went away.

What happened was...when we moved into our home in Washington I somehow caused my leg to hurt, under the knee on the front left side or there abouts. It was my left leg. It wasn't my knee that hurt, and sometimes the leg would ache while driving and I would get a twinge of pain on the opposite side at my ankle. I think it was some type of muscle or tendon irritation (seems like the Internet showed a tendon or ligament that ran from that area across to the ankle).

Anyway, we moved into our house around the 20th of Sept. and I finally went to the doctor to have it checked out in April. He gave me some pain meds to take for a month to see if that would stop it. When I was almost through taking them I started getting hives...only in the evenings, except for once in the morning but there were just a few and it didn't last long. I thought it was the meds so I stopped taking them with just 3 or so left...no change....we walked in the evening so after checking some things online, thought maybe that was it...no, still had them on days we didn't walk. As for leg, Doc thought it was knee (wasn't knee), tried physical therapy, didn't work.

Went to my parents during the summer. It got a lot better there, but as soon as I went up the stairs the first time home it started up again. Doc told me to keep walking, would help 'knee'... it's not the knee....finally the walking was making it hurt worse so we stopped...I think around September it finally stopped bothering me. We only lived in WA a little over two years, after we moved to AL I had them a few times the first year or so, around spring and again near fall, but they weren't as bad as before. Then they stopped...finally.

Then I move to North Carolina and all h*ll breaks lose, they are back with a vengeance, and I get them in the evening and in the morning. Took Benedril a few times then had Hubby pick up some Zyrtec. I started taking it at night and they stopped. I'm not taking Zyrtec this week to see if they will stay away.

I'm still trying to figure out if Jack found out I had them in Washington and sprinkled something in the air to bring them back before he and Sherry left on their USA tour...hummm.

Okay, now on to another subject...like this one wasn't long enough....The Salvation Army picked up our old table and chairs and a dresser the morning before Hubby picked up our new set and our chair. Had no trouble setting the rocker recliner up. We had to put the table and chairs together....that table was/is a heavy sucker. We put the table and two chairs together that night before our back and hips said no more, we are to old and fat to be wallowing on the floor. Anyway, we get started on the last two and wouldn't you know, the very last leg on the last chair didn't have the insert in the hole for the bolt to screw into...so calls to the furniture store and they are supposed to be sending one in the mail. So for now the lone chair is lying on the floor against the wall until the part gets here....to be continued...

Hope everyone is having a great week,
Sheila

Happy 20th Birthday!!!

Happy 20th Birthday "J"
I am going to have to stick to a repeat picture since I can't easily get to my pictures. My oldest is no longer a teenager...she had school today...including a 6pm math class, so we will take her out Friday night to eat. We did have cake and presents, plus last weeks trip to Charlotte for a 3-D movie with her sister was a birthday request.
Mom's puppy was listed as a chihuahua, so not sure if he is a mix of something else too.
I took the cat Monday and got him fixed...and I think the dog is starting to think she is a cat...she has gotten on the back of the couch a few times, I told her she was not a cat. she tried it tonight and fell on the floor...she is okay but I don't think she will get on the back of the couch again.
Take care,
Sheila

Labor Day weekend and beyond...

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well. We had a nice Labor Day weekend. Friday night Hubby took me out to the Cimarron Steak House. I was a nice place and the food was good. They have an outdoor patio too, we didn't know that until after we had sat down. We'll have to try it out next time since the weather is turning cooler.

On Saturday we went to a few furniture places, looking for a new counter height dining set for the breakfast area and a new rocker recliner. We did find ones we liked and we will get them Thursday. Salvation Army is coming Tuesday to pick up our table and chairs and a dresser. I guess we'll be using our wooden tray tables for a couple of days...ha. We drove around a few new housing developments also before we headed home.

We headed out again Sunday, Hubby took me by where he works and we went house shopping some more. We went in a few model homes. Monday we just hung around the apartment. I think one weekend we'll head up toward Mount Airy, the town that inspired 'Mayberry'. I think they have a statue of Andy Griffith too.

The girls drove down to Charlotte last night to see Resident Evil afterlife in 3-D at the IMAX theater. They came back with tattoos....no not the real kind...ha.

'J' left her little dog at my parent's while we prepared to move and we went up to get her the weekend before the packers and movers came...I think Mom got a little attached (Dad too, but he probably wouldn't admit it...ha), so when my brother and his family came shortly after, she let the kids talk her into getting her one...They named him Jett...
Well she got up one morning about 4 am to take him out and when she put him back in his bed (in a cage while he's house trained), she didn't close it good...later on that morning she heard something and got up and he had turned on the TV and was hopping around so happy...ha. I guess he got bored with everyone asleep...ha.

Mom's new puppy Jett with her Granddaughter.

Jett again.
That's about it for now...I take the cat on Monday to get fixed, then later on we'll get the dog groomed and get her shots.
Take care Everyone,
ROLL TIDE!!

Scenes from NC...

Hi again,

I didn't tell you, the boy trying to get on the trike in my header is my next to oldest brother Carl.

This is 'Billy Bob's Silver Diner.

Saw it on our way to Kohl's for school clothes.

(the picture doesn't do it justice

but being reflective didn't help)

Atop the St**bucks drive-through

I think Jack has a business on the side

Who knew Belmont was on the road to my
daughter's school ?

Take care,

Sheila
