The Royal Theater...

Mom was talking about the Royal Theater that her Aunt and Uncle owned, in her blog. So I decided to post a picture of it that I have. The building is still there, but it doesn't look like this anymore. Her Uncle George is standing out in front. Mom has a story about a visit to the Theater, maybe she will share it one day.

I'm reading a book where the kids were taken over to the 'Royal Theater' to see a movie. I've even read a couple of books that mentioned my hometown in them, one was by Fannie Flagg. That was always a nice surprise, because my home town is very small. This is in addition to 'Cracker's Mule', this story was based in my hometown, because that is where he spent summers at his grandparents.


Cori has been taking exams this week at school. They were delayed because of the days they missed because of the snow and ice. I picked her up early today after she finished her exams and we rode around some. We finally ended up at IH0P for some apple crepes. While we were there the rain turned to snow...big snowflakes and lots of them. It was fun watching them fall outside the windows. I texted Hubby and told him it was snowing and he texted back and said 'make it stop'...haha. It lasted while we were there, then it stopped. Oh well, at least I got to see some. The waitress asked me if that was Santa Claus on my debit card...Hubby hated the new cards because he thought it looked like Santa Claus and his reindeer...ha.

Now, we are waiting to see if they delay school in the morning because the wet ground will probably ice over.

New blogger...

Hi Everyone,

We are good here. Hoping for more snow this week. :) We had Mexican food again last night, but I cooked it this time. I bought me some guacamole but I haven't eaten it yet. Maybe later today.

Also wanted to let you know that my Mom has a blog now if you haven't found it already. She had a little adventure with our cat Sam that we left there at Christmas. Drop in and visit.

Oh you missed it!

As is the custom of most teenagers, they like to wait until almost the last minute to finish homework…and this was the case Monday night. After Cori finished up her homework, she was searching everywhere for one of her binders (notebooks to us older folk). Looking high and low, in places it has never been, hoping maybe somehow it walked in there on it’s on. I asked, ‘did you leave it in the car’? ‘I don’t think so’, continues searching.

So I decide to put on my coat and shoes and go check and see if she left it in the car. It had been raining so the sidewalk was wet and it was pretty cold. I don’t think it warmed up as much as they thought it would (they being the weather persons). Most of our snow was gone except for the areas that had been piled up. I felt a little slick spot as I went to the car…the wet sidewalks were starting to freeze a little. I go around to the passenger side and look in the back seat. LO AND BEHOLD, there is her binder! I get it out and head back to the apartment…that’s when I busted my @$$ on the sidewalk…. go ahead you can laugh…I am fine…wasn’t hurt; I was somewhat prepared since I knew it was slick in places.

The next morning when I reached for my reading glasses by the bed they weren’t there. So I checked in the bathroom, a few other places I might have left them, not there. I usually keep them on the top of my head until they are needed. (This is why I lost a pair at the lake when Mom and I took my niece fishing. I leaned over the rail to look in the water and they fell off). AH Ha! They must have fell off when I landed on my rear. Jarin was going out that morning to get her charger out of my car and I told her to check and see if they were out there…. and they were!

The only ill effects are a sore muscle in my upper arm from having to call it into action so quickly to break my fall…ha.

Oh and I hope it was late enough and dark enough that I don’t show up on y0utube. :D

Catching up...

We had our New Year’s meal on the 1^st. We actually found hog jowl this year. I fixed pork chops, turnips, black-eyed peas w/hog jowl, mashed potatoes and rolls. I also put in some hog jowl with the turnips too…maybe that will help bring more good stuff for the new year…ha.

We were going to meet Hubby at IH0P when we got back to town on New Year’s Eve but they were already closed. :( Hubby did buy a bottle of champagne to open at midnight. We toasted the New Year with a few sips…maybe it tastes better with chocolate covered strawberries… The rest is taking up space in the refrigerator.

Now to present day…Hubby and I went out to eat Friday night. I was craving some Mexican food. I didn’t see what I wanted on the menu…(I wanted what I had the last time we went to the Mexican restaurant at Mom’s) I told them what I wanted and they came pretty close…it was good. I think Mom likes to go there because she has a crush on the cute young waiter there…ha.

The girls have another shortened week this week. No school today or Friday. Well Jarin doesn’t have a class on Friday so hers is always a shortened week.

You in the snow states, push some of that snow to the south…but stop it at the Florida line, I don’t want to make Jack mad… : D Happy Birthday Jack!!

Hello again...

Well it has been awhile...Left Dec. 20th heading south for Christmas (Alabama). Jack, Sherry and Shirl, I honked and waved going through Belmont.

We all got what we wanted for Christmas. Cori and I wanted a nook (e-reader) and Jarin wanted a new handheld video game. This is the first year in a while Hubby didn't want some type of golf club. He got clothes and a pair of R@lph L@uren boots. Kind of styled like hiking boots, I think they may be waterproof. We also both got a wii game. Mine is bass fishing with a pole, his is a sniper game. Got a new Fannie Flagg book too. There are certain books I will still buy in book form and hers is one of them.

The girls got lots of goodies each and a few together. Hubby and I are also getting a Cuisinart k-cup coffee maker when I decide to venture out to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get it. I told him we could get it after Christmas; it would have been too big to take down for Christmas then haul it back.

We also left Sam the cat there, so he could have a little freedom outside. He was a handful inside this small apartment. We will bring him back after we get a house. He and Mom's dog Jett seem to enjoy each other and they are more matched in size than Sam and our little dog Rylie.

Got to see my little brother and his wife, they flew in Monday after Christmas and stayed until Friday. We also left on Friday headed back up here.

We still had some leftover snow from Christmas when we got back. Then, as you all know, we got some snow and ice earlier this week. We got enough to cover the ground but not as much as Shirl got in Belmont. It iced over with the freezing drizzle. We didn’t get noticeable ice on the trees, but it was enough to keep the schools closed all week. Cori went back today with a two hour delay, instead of being there by 8:50 am it was 10:50 am. So they got a nice little extra vacation.
