Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas to all my blogger friends!

Thought I'd share a few  of our indoor decorations...

A little bit of my Christmas rabbit couple

The grandsons at the in-laws.

Santa Claus was very good this year. If the rain and thunderstorms could have been snow instead, would have been perfect...ha.

Take care,

There are bows on the tree, I'll

Oh, what fun it is to ride....

Jarin and I went throught the Festiv@l of Lights the Monday after Thanksgiving. I had her video as we went through. I have been trying off and on since then to make a video I could post. I first worked to take off the sound. Once I accomplished that I added music. Wouldn't post, so I changed the type of file so it would be smaller, still wouldn't post. I split it up in clips by Christmas song, still to big. So this is what I have now, small clips without music. As I get more of them ready I'll post them...

It might be a good thing because to watch the whole video you would need a little Dramamine to prevent motion sickness. Someone was a little fast moving from one side to the other... I won't name any names (see beginning of post) but I was driving...ha. :-D

Jarin says I can make a y0utube account and link the video from there...I'm still thinking on that one.
(Ok, here's a link to the first video clip with music... http://youtu.be/ir12wHYdwgk)

My brother Ronnie has a blog now...check him out!

Hope you enjoy the first installment... Take care, Sheila

Everyone loves a parade...

Here are a few pictures I took of the Christmas parade in Mocksville. It was mostly antique cars and tractors. I wanted to go to a small town parade and I enjoyed it. Jarin went with me. Of course, they threw out lots of candy. I gave most of what I picked up to the little girls in front of me. This was on the 17th of November, I think they had it earlier this year for some reason. Santa was at the end, he was walking and stopped at the intersection and was quickly surrounded by children. So I didn't get a picture of him. I'm used to him being on a float or firetruck at the end. I saw some pictures, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, of the Mount Airy Christmas parade. I think I'll try to go to it next year. I didn't hear anything about it until afterward or I might have went this year. Jack I knew you'd enjoy these cars...I have a few more that I didn't post this time.

This was a guy on one of the bikes with a large front wheel.
He drove in circles, I'm assuming because he didn't have brakes.
The little Food Lion truck.
This looked like it should have been pulled by horses.
Yes, there were horses in the parade...
and a high school band and all such as that.
No shriners on go carts though...

Oh yeah, and Daniel Boone and his parents lived in
the area...

Happy December,
Sheila

Is that turkey I smell...

We survived Halloween and now we are a day away from Thanksgiving...

Here are a few pics of the Halloween decorations in the dark...

This pumpkin was on the floor under the cat above.
Mr. Skeleton Dracula...
Miss Witch and pumpkins...
 black cat
and my costume for the night....
spider headband

I also had scary stuff playing when I opened the door for the little trick or treaters.

Jarin and I went to the Christmas parade in Mocksville this past Saturday. I wanted to go to a small town Christmas parade. We have the Festival of Lights here, probably go to that next Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping it won't be as crowded during the week as it is on the weekend.

We also got our Christmas stuff put up outside last Sunday. We haven't turned it on yet, but at least it is done.
Now we wait for tomorrow and the cooking and eating that goes along with it...
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

How about that, I managed to mention Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas in one blog post... :-)
Take care,
Sheila

My fall decor...

The first two pictures are the items I bought half off at Rite Aid...

That is my favorite starbucks mug in the pic.
no, it's not decoration, I was about to drink out of it.

My fiber optic cat
He faces the front door.
I also have a pumpkin on the floor in front of him too.
I'll have to take a pic of both with the lights out.

I bought these last year...so I think you seen these and the
cat above last year.

I didn't buy the bales of hay or any mums this year so the outside looks a little bare. I'll get a picture of it in the dark too. We are supposed to be windy this weekend thanks to Sandy and it will be a lot colder next week...Yay!!

Hubby got his new glasses Friday (the other ones were just new frames for the ones he had). He asked if I wanted to go somewhere to eat, so I said yes and got ready. Usually we meet somewhere when he gets off work, but he came home this time and we went on my vehicle. He kidnapped me and next thing I knew we were at the mall... via Marshalls first... I try to avoid the mall as much as possible...ha. Wasn't too bad I did get two shirts out of the deal...he needed new dress shoes for work. We went to eat at the Mexican place in town when we were done. It was good.

Have a great weekend,
Sheila

A trimming we will go....

Hubby bought me a present yesterday, isn't he so sweet.

I told him I need to buy some flower stickers to decorate it.

When he cuts the grass I help by trimming and edging. We have an electric one he bought in Mobile when his gas one got temperamental about whether it was going to start or not. It was no fun for me having to move it and the extension cord around the house so I mentioned a battery operated one. Well we quit cutting the grass and hired someone to do it until this past week. Our guy had been out of work, but he now has a full time job and doesn't have the extra hours to keep cutting grass. Good for him, I'm so glad he found a job! So anyway, Hubby cut it yesterday and I got a new trimmer :-D. To save trips back and forth to empty the lawn clippings, we put one of the blankets the movers left behind on the ground. Hubby would dump clippings 3 or so times and I would drag it to the back and empty it and come back. Now today it is raining.

By the way, I love the trimmer, so much easier to use...they have the blower that uses the same type battery, maybe that will be next on the list...

Have a great week,
Sheila

Getting ready for Halloween...

Hello all,

I love this cooler weather we are having. Went to the pharmacy (R.Aid) the other day and they had their fall stuff 50% off so I found me a little scarecrow with dangling feet and also a 'Happy Harvest' pumpkin to sit on my fireplace mantel. I put out the Halloween stuff but I haven't bought any pumpkins yet. I'm not going to get the hay bales this year for the porch they are too much trouble. Trying to decide if I want to fix something to sit in one of my rocking chairs...maybe Mike Myers or Leather face. I have a mask for both. I asked hubby if they had coveralls at work and what color, he said blue...reckon you can borrow a pair until after Halloween? Ha. May have to check a thrift store to see if I can find something. We fixed one like Jason from Friday the 13th way back in Kansas.

Poor Hubby broke the arm off his glasses last weekend so he went in Tuesday for an eye exam and new pair...I taped the arm back on so he could wear them and he got a lot of nerd comments at work...ha. The new glasses are supposed to take about 2 weeks but they ordered him another frame for the pair he had and they came in yesterday. We picked them up then went to eat at Applebee's... I was not impressed, I tried the turkey sandwich with fried green tomato and I don't know if they toasted the bread with butter or oil but it was greasy. We also ordered french onion soup and they were supposed to bring it first, but after they brought out the food we had to remind them we had soup also... Seems they were better when we lived in Texas.

Roll Tide,
Sheila

Turn out the lights, the party's over...

Thought I'd share a few pictures.

Jarin's birthday cake...she had to get Iron man because
they didn't have Capt. America...no matter, she loves them all...ha.
One of her gifts was a new bedding set.
Cori's portrait of The Joker in icing...
Some harvested peppers...cooked the bells in baked beans.
Couple of days later got 7 more bells and lots of jalepena,
cayenne and others that look like pepperoncini.
Hubby grilled steak last Sunday so we cooked those bells
on the grill.
My two 'refusing to completely die' tomato plants.
Above the Roma, below the celebrity...

When I took Rylie out yesterday morning, I saw something lying under the pine tree. I thought it was a cat at first, but soon realized it was a young fox. It finally decided to head back to the woods. Wish I had thought to get my camera. Maybe next time I'll catch a pic.

Oh, and I ran out of luck, they changed me over to the new blogger... : (

Have a great weekend everyone,
Sheila

Happy Birthday Jarin...

My first born turned 22 today
or will at 11:22 tonight...ha.

the night she was born...
home from the hospital...
not quite a year old...
around 16 months...
She wanted to eat out at 0live Garden for her birthday so that is where we went. We will celebrate with cake tomorrow.

Went to Wally World the other day to restock some of our supplies and decided to get me a puzzle mat and a box of Th0mas Kincaid puzzles. There are ten puzzles in the box.

We have had nice weather lately but I think it's supposed to rain for a few days starting Sunday. But it will be nice again. I'm really enjoying these cooler temps.

Take care,
Sheila

Where does the time go...

I am back! We are all good. Updated my blog for Fall and changed the photo in the previous post. The other one was animated and I decided to change it. Nothing out of the ordinary happening, Mom is healing from her surgery and going to therapy. But most of you read her blog so you already know.

We had a visit from one of Paula's turtles a while back. I went out to go pick up Jarin and there was a turtle on the driveway near the side of the house. I called Cori out and she took it back to the wooded area behind the house. I told her it looked like it turned around to come back toward the house. I left to pick up Jarin and when we got back the turtle had already made it back to the front and was by the road. We watched to make sure it got across the road okay, I guess it was bound and determined to get back to Paula so she could feed it...ha.

We still have some bell peppers growing along with some other peppers, one is jalapeno, not sure about the other. Got 4 eggplant off the plant a couple of days ago, but mine are narrow, more similar to a cucumber shape. Parsley still growing. Chives are still there but haven't grown any bigger. The parsley and chives were covered up by the squash and zucchini that took over. But I pulled it up after I got some to cook. Hubby had one watermelon that grew, it was about the size of a football, but it was good.

Jarin and I went to see 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' and 'Madea's Witness Protection' Sunday. The first had Judi Dench in it. I had wanted to see it but it never came to the regular theater near us. I noticed on Sunday that it was on at the $2.50 theater as well as Madea's so we went. We enjoyed both of them, Jarin wasn't to sure she would like the first one but she did. I told her I'm a good movie picker...ha.

We are having nice weather this week, sunshine and temps in the 70's and 50's.
Take care,
Sheila

Happy 4th of July!

We are still around... We have celebrated an anniversary, the 26th, on May 31st. Hubby celebrated a birthday on June 5th. Mom broke her hip on June 9th, no, we're not celebrating that, but we are working on getting her healed up. The girls and I have been here in Alabama since June 13th, that is the day she got out of the hospital. My niece came to spend the night so she would be here until I got here. They replaced the ball of her hip as that is what cracked. She went out to get the paper that morning and it was raining, Millie, her newest dog, jumped up on her and it caused her to slip and fall. She is doing well and the doctor said she could put full weight on it this Friday. She's not allowed to bend over yet since they had to cut the muscle and it still needs longer to heal and strengthen. She'll be back to her usual self before she knows it. My Dad is doing well also.

My brother and his family from Texas got here Saturday. They went down to the beach for the day today. We're just taking it easy today, some of the young ones will probably pop some fireworks
later. Hope everyone has a great 4th!

Take care, Sheila
